Pro-Gun I believe in the right to bear arms belongs to individual citizens. I’m happy the Supreme Court struck down the DC Gun Ban. Guns don’t cause crime, people do. I believe that an honest citizen should be able to go into a gun shop with legal identification, pass the instant background check that is currently in place, and get a gun. (As I live in NJ, this is a dream of mine.) {9-18-08} – A concerned citizen asked that I clarify my position on machine guns and armor piercing ammunition – I support the National Firearms Act of 1934 which made it unlawful for a citizen to own a “machine gun” without special permission from the U.S. Treasury Department. I also see no reason for anyone outside of law enforcement to own teflon coated bullets.
Pro-Term Limits Elected officals need to have term limits put on their “careers.” Being an elected official isn’t carte blanche to soak your constituents. If a politician is doing a good job, he/she can be elected to a different position with more responsibility. I feel 5 terms as a Congressman (10 years) and 2 terms as a Senator (12 years) are reasonable limits.
Pro-Choice While I don’t think that abortion should be the first option, I don’t believe the government has the right to tell a woman what to do in her particular situation. I am, however, against ”partial birth” abortions.
